Time is standing still . . . For now

Well, it’s been a while . . .
A lot has happened this year, and I feel as though every morsel of my being has been sucked right out of me.
My brother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in February, and while he was struggling to survive, my father started his decline with his own health. It was hard to watch them both fight to stay positive (and alive). At the beginning of April. My father fell, and within three weeks he passed.
As my family gathered to support one another, we still tried our best to be there for my brother. And at the beginning of June, my brother was gone as well.
I feel mentally drained, and I assume that getting back to painting and creating would get me through whatever I was feeling, as it always did, for all the years before.
Unfortunately, I seem to sit at my desk, staring into space with no urge, no excitement, and no inspiration.
I focus my time on yard work and on creating differently. I began trying to find purpose for the hundreds (possibly thousands) of cobblestones we have had on the side of the house for the past three years. It seemed to have worked for a bit. But now that the weather is getting hotter and more humid, I feel as though that too might be coming to an end.

I’ve always been someone who truly believes that your mind is very powerful. You can convince yourself of anything by believing it wholeheartedly.
But for some reason, it’s not working for me right now. I feel like I have no energy to conjure up the energy it takes to do that.
My intention is not to have anyone feel sorry for me or to make you think you need to solve my problem. I am writing this to let you know why there has been such a gap between my last blog and now, and my artwork.
I know when the time is right, it will all fall back into place again. But until then, I need a little more time.
Thank you for listening, and thank you for your patience,
Dawn xo
